Our Curriculum

Students are grouped in our classrooms based on age. We do not assess students to determine placement because we value the diverse needs and ability levels of every child.

In our classrooms, we place a strong emphasis on helping our students grow into confident little leaders who have:

Z

An awareness of who God is, how much He loves them and desires to be their friend

Z

Multiple social & emotional regulation strategies to help them navigate big feelings in life

Z

A strong academic foundation to prepare them for success in any school environment

Our daily lessons follow our school’s Colors of Learning Preschool Curriculum that we developed based on the NC State Standards for Pre-K and Kindergarten Readiness. This enables us to adapt and teach the standards at a rate that best fits each individual child’s academic, social, and emotional needs.  Students who matriculate through our program are confident and prepared to thrive in a variety of Kindergarten school environments.

Biblical Foundation

We utilize the First Look Preschool Curriculum, so each month, our school has a monthly Bible Theme that we reinforce with students through weekly bible stories and classroom activities. Each bible story, in some way, expresses the Big Idea for the month and classes practice the monthly Bible Memory Verse as well.

Social & Emotional Foundation

As you walk through our school, you’ll notice a calming corner strategically placed in a corner of every classroom that invites children to explore images, books, and sensory materials to help them identify and name their feelings, and choose tools or strategies that will regulate heightened emotions.

Academic Foundation

Each week, students explore a topic or theme along with engaging activities that introduce a new concept or practice a specific skill that they previously learned through fine motor and gross motor development in our younger age classes and reading, writing, and math in our older classrooms.

General Information

We provide a dry snack each morning that includes peanut and tree nut free items such as graham crackers, applesauce, goldfish, veggie straws, or pirate’s booty.

Families should prepare lunch (and snack if preferred) at home and send it to school, and we serve lunch daily before dismissal.

Z

In addition to lunch, all children should bring a backpack with a change of clothes, extra underwear / diapers / pull ups, a water bottle, and a coat or jacket daily.

Pullups

If your child wears pullups to school, we require the pullups that have velcro sides so that teachers can quickly support students in changing without having to completely undress your child during potty time.
